Aug. 04, 2008. 50km/hr & hazard lights flashing we made it to the BMW Shop. Chuard Motos in GENEVA.

Alex, the mechanic, had the motorcycle up on the stand in minutes and the rear drive disassembled.

The seal at been leaking since Portugal and final blew the previous day in the French Alps.

The old rear drive beside the new (used, but clean) rear drive.

A new rear drive was 1200Euro, but we got a used one for 300Euro.

There was no saving the old one as the gear teeth had been grinded away.

Aug. 05, 2008. The rear drive was replaced in a few hours...

...we camped only 15km outside of Geneva in the wine country...

...and while the motorcycle was getting fixed we explored downtown Geneva.

Geneva is set at the most western point of Lake Geneva.

The Jet d' Eau, the world's highest fountain (140m).

All the international banks line the water front of the Rade de Geneve.

This is the birth of the Rhone river as it makes its way from Lake Geneva to France.

The Theatre House.

How about a game of Chess in the Parc des Bastions.

Arial view of the Old Town (Vieille Ville) & the Jet d'Eau.

Set on the hill in the midst of the Old Town stands tall the Cathedrale St-Pierre.

It was completed in 1230 after 70 years of construction.

Passing time, while waiting for the church to open.

The turquoise color of the unique tower.

The Main Entrance.

The cathedral was built on top of a Roman Temple & other earlier buildings.

The first class excavation site has been made accessible to the public.

Mould of the Clemence. A large star-shaped impression is the only remains of the casting of a bell.

Excavation shows the different layer of construction over the centuries.

Decorative elements are carved in stucco.

The bones of an Allobrogian chieftain.

Recovered from the tomb was this ancient Zodiac Sign Dice.

The Romanesque Crypt.

Ancient walls.

The Bishop's Reception Hall. Built around 400AD.

The highlight of this richly decorated room was amagnificent mosaic floor.

An ancient well.

Above the archaeological site lies the main Nave of the Cathedrale St. Pierre.

The stained-glass windows are copies of the original 15th Century Windows...

... which line the presbytery.

The original are on display in Geneva's Musee d; Art et d'Histoire.

The beautiful decorated ceilings.

Stained Rose Window.

Impressive Organs.

Aug. 06, 2008. From Geneva we climbed the COL DE FAUCILLE (1323m)...

...for a great view of Geneva and the mountain range beyond.
